Replacing an Atwood Series 30 RV Gas Detector
Atwood discontinued the Series 30 line. SENSYX SRC2000-S and PRC2000 are the modern, direct-fit upgrades.
Why every Atwood owner is forced to switch
Atwood/Dometic stopped manufacturing and supporting the Series 30 RV gas detector. Replacement parts and updated sensor cartridges are no longer available. Once your Series 30 reaches the end of its 5-year sensor life — or fails — you must move to a different brand.
SENSYX is the closest direct-fit upgrade
If your Atwood is surface-mount → SRC2000-S
The SENSYX SRC2000-S is surface-mount, dual-gas (propane + CO), 12V hardwired. Same install footprint as a typical Atwood Series 30 surface unit.
If your Atwood is flush-mount → PRC2000
The SENSYX PRC2000 is flush-mount, dual-gas, 12V hardwired. Verify the cutout dimensions (3" × 4-1/2") before purchase — most Atwood Series 30 flush installs match.
What you gain by upgrading
- LCD shows real-time PPM during alarm — Atwood Series 30 was LED-only. When your detector goes off at 3 a.m., you see the gas type and concentration immediately.
- 75 ppm CO pre-alarm — Atwood (and most modern dual-gas units) alarm only at 150 ppm. SENSYX warns 30+ minutes earlier.
- Disclosed sensor source — UL-Recognized FIGARO sensor (Japan). Atwood/Dometic never disclosed their sensor source.
- Updated UL standards — tested to UL 1484 and UL 2034 (the standards Atwood originally built to).
- Wider voltage range — 8-24 VDC. Works on low-battery scenarios and 24V truck campers (Atwood was 12V-only).
Install notes
Atwood Series 30 wiring is standard 12V red/black with a chassis ground. SENSYX SRC2000-S and PRC2000 use the same wiring convention. In most cases the install is a direct swap — same hole, same wires, ~10 minutes.
